EYFS

Each separate subject here at St Mary's has a Lead teacher. In EYFS, the Lead teacher is called Mrs Smith. Her wealth of knowledge as a Local Authority lead practitioner and an Advanced skills teacher in EYFS, in other settings, coupled with her love of little people and her passion for challenging them to be the very best they can be, are a recipe for success here at SMA. She leads with confidence, flexibility and inspires her team to teach really well. Mrs Smith currently teachers in Reception and is one of our Assistant head teachers. Mrs Steele teaches in Early Years, her smile and enthusiasm melt all the children's hearts.

Each subject also has a Link Governor, who supports and monitors progress, in conjunction with guidance form the SLT. In the case of EYFS, this is Mr Baker ; a governor who is also a secondary AHT teacher. He is extremely supportive and always eager to listen.

Each class has its own class page, where homework, projects, home communications etc are publicised and shared on a very regular basis. Some views from parents on these, will also be shared here in the forthcoming months for you to understand how we work, a little more.

Please bear with us as we are developing this new way of sharing with you, over time. Thank you.

Our Curriculum philosophy is below, showing why we do it the way we do it here at St Mary of the Angels.

Within this document, you will also find the Long Term Overview, sharing the books that children will be focusing on and the various themes that we embrace across the year, in Nursery and Reception ( EYFS).

Some examples of Key Knowledge organisers are below. Hopefully these will give you a flavour of the type of vocabulary and the type of learning that will take place in EYFS. There are KKO's for Literacy, Maths, RE and WLP.

These help the parents stay informed with what their child is being taught. All current KKO's are on the class page.

A flavour of our children's experiences are below, so that you can see that we offer the children impressive  opportunities to enhance their language, extend their life experiences and enable them to enjoy thier early educaion here at SMA.
